Heard the interpretation that the ‘other side’ refers to death and that the chickens are really suicidal in crossing the road the other day. Never really been able to look at that joke the same way since either…
The restaurant in this panel just reinforces that interpretation.

I’ve seen ducks eating other ducks, so why shouldn’t chickens eat other chickens?
