Back to Five

Well, here it goes. You were probably wondering where Saturday’s comic was. Let me tell you, this weekend was a doozy. In addition to the part-time job I mentioned in the previous blog post, there were also some household emergencies to take care of (broken washing machine, stopped up kitchen drain, fourth grade diorama project for my daughter, in case you’re wondering). For a man who has been laid off from a regular paying job since July 2009, I am busier than I’ve ever been in my life.

Which is what leads me to this next paragraph: I’m afraid I’m going to have to trim Spud Comics back to 5 days a week. With all these additional stresses that take priority, I’ll have to push some things to the backseat. As much as that pains me.

Another hurtful part of this is I just haven’t had the time to visit my old haunts, Twitter, Facebook and the Comments. The absolute best part of drawing a daily comic has been meeting LOTS of great people. Not just fellow cartoonists, but the fans of webcomics themselves. I have no intention of leaving and I don’t want you wonderful people to think I’m ignoring you, and I promise to catch up whenever I find a free moment.

This isn’t all bad though. I started Spud Comics over a year ago as a 5-day-a-week comic. I added the extra day due to popular demand, and believe me, I would do 7 days if I could.

Perhaps when things get back on track and somewhat normal (I’m a father of 3, who am I kidding, right?) then maybe I can go back to knocking this out of the park on a 6-day or 7-day basis. Please know that I can’t thank you enough for all of the support and compliments I’ve gotten from you these past few months. Again, this isn’t the end, and if you can bear with me for awhile, I promise the best is yet to come.

Stumble It!

Don’t worry about it Lonnie. Life often gets in the way.
The readers are damn lucky to get it even 5 days a week and I am sure no-one will complain.

(If they do, send them my way, and I will have McHorne sort them out.)

Also, what about a guest comic every saturday, or just twice a month, to give you some extra breathing room?

I used to love TJ Hooker when I was a kid. That Heather Locklear? Whoooo…

You turn out a quality, entertaining comic, that’s no small accomplishment. Then you manage to do it 5 times every week. Most people don’t do anything with that much regularity…. except eat. All of us fans will just have to learn to adjust, seriously, 5 times a week is a major achievement and you don’t need to feel like you are a slacker. Just the opposite. Best Wishes.

What only 5 comics a week? :) Maybe I’ll get to do a guest comic if I can get some free time of my own…

I will keep reading even if you had to drop to once a week. You come up with great stuff.
