While the comic is cute, the language is offensive for what is generally your family friendly comic.
You can do better.

I don’t agree with qka. I believe that it’s someones comic. There personal site, and can do whatever pleases them (:

qka, oh I can always “do better”. This comic is a work in progress and I continue to strive for improvement. With that being said, I never intended for this to be a “family friendly” comic. While most of my comics have a generally broad appeal, there are times when I do get a little racy with the jokes (and the language). This is the beauty of having a webcomic and not something that is later hacked up by editors to be printed in a newspaper. Whenever I describe Spud Comics, I usually use the words “Far Side with an edge”. Sometimes my comic just calls for a curse word every now and then to get the humor across. This is just the way I write. This will also be the last time I address this on my own website. Thanks for the comment.

Christopher, Thank you for your comment as well. I like to think of this as more than just a personal website though. I do want people to come and enjoy it when they can and I value their opinion. I know I can’t please everybody and some will take issue with some of the comics I create, and that’s fine. I’m sure not everybody likes every episode of their favorite TV show. But again, the way I write is the way I write and that probably won’t change. Thanks for reading!

I was referring to the text, not the comic. Yes, personal web site, creative license and all that. But in the end, Lonnie, what do you want your public to think of you? I often forward your comics to others who I think would appreciate them – with the URL so that they can discover more of your work. I like Spud Comics, and want to spread the word. So could “douchebag” have been replaced with something maybe a bit less sophmoric and offensive and yet retained the edge of this comic? I think so. (For that matter, T don’t think this was not one of your edgier comics. Cute, funny, but not edgy.)

qka, thank you so much for spreading the word and forwarding the link to your friends. I just want the public to think that this is a website to come to for a laugh or two. That’s all.
