Yeah, a quick pitch is crucial. Sitting next to Scott at the con, I heard a ton of people come up to say they make webcomics, but only one or two actually talked about their comic in a way that made them really stand out. If you can make someone at least laugh in the 10 seconds it takes to pitch, then it means you've got more of a chance they are glad they got to talk to you, and will hopefully remember you.

Glad you liked the drawing! I will do my best to be at the next show! Keep smiling!

Will Terrell, Thanks! I enjoyed meeting you too. You were very helpful and kind and made me realize I need to get my "pitch" down. I love the drawing of Potato and my kids like it too. I was also impressed with your panel on using the Wacom. Good stuff! It would be great to see you there again next year.

Ginpu, I think we're all chasing that "tipping point". I think we'll get there as long as we remain consistent and deliver quality work. That seemed to be the mantra from all the other folks there.

Tracy, glad you enjoyed the report. This was solely from my perspective, so I'm sure accounts from the actual artists who had tables would be vastly different. I also thought about describing the Southfork Hotel, where the event was being held but realized no one would really care. It was one of the best hotels I've stayed in and I've visited quite a few. Hopefully a lot more people will visit next year.

Frank, judging by the cropped appearance of your avatar, I think we did meet out in the hallway. I made a comment about how there's very little to do when you don't have a table of your own. I think you were holding a copy of "How to Make Webcomics". If that wasn't you then I apologize. You should have said something about the shirt. I notice you have your own webcomic as well. I'll link to it soon on the Links page. Hope to see you again soon! :)

Rob, I was really looking forward to meeting you and Byron. The show was great, but it did seem like touch and go there at the beginning. You have to keep in mind that this was just it's first year. On all accounts attendance picked up and all the artists seemed happy with the way things went. Kurtz left the show during the middle because it was his grandmother's 86th birthday, so I don't know if he got a chance to truly appreciate it. I hope he'll be back next year as he's really a great guy even though I sometimes think he (self) portrays himself as a jerk. Perhaps you and I can meet at a show closer to home since you live in the south as well.
